The Literati return with ‘the abhorrum masquerade,’ our celebration of the macabre, the eldritch, and the forbidden. This year’s ball focuses on the work of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and the duality within all people… come as your best self or your worst self, and be prepared for an experience where every aspect of you is challenged and brought to life.

‘the abhorrum’ is an 18+ event. Alcohol will be available on site and all guests partaking must provide appropriate ID before purchase.

‘the abhorrum’ will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM at the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club (1210 4th Street, Santa Monica, CA). The Club is open to all and parking is readily available next door at Santa Monica Public Parking Structures 1.

Joining Literati Events for the abhorrum is the HP Lovecraft Historical Society, an organization founded in 1986 for the purpose of exploring the worlds envisioned by HP Lovecraft.
